You know, sometimes I actually think I might have my ish together. We were away for the weekend as a family and normally that means we all return tired, over stimulated and completely over takeout food.
This weekend was no different but after 9 hours on the road, we came home to a clean house thanks to my Thursday night demand that the house be tidied up before we left on Friday morning. The boys took care of their rooms then got out of my way so that I could handle what I deemed important. And they responded when I called them to come and put away a pile I had collected. It worked out beautifully because we got home last night and we only had to worry about unpacking and getting ready for today.
It also meant that all I had to worry about this morning was figuring out what in the world we were going to eat this week.
Monday- Boys are having Kraft Dinner and veggies. HockeyMom and HockeyDad are having steak and Caesar salad in celebration of wedding anniversary #13.
Tuesday- Grilled cheese and fruit. Last week I tried to get away without a grocery store trip, which means we ran out of bread by about Tuesday. So we’ve been sneaking through with wraps and cheese and crackers for lunches. With this week’s shopping trip, I stocked up on bread, so grilled cheese is back on the menu, folks. And just in time for Cub night where the food needs to be fast.
Wednesday- Fend for yourself. Again.
Thursday- Meatballs, veggies and rice. Once again, I stocked up. So these bad boys will be cooked thanks to my Instant Pot and the Damn Delicious recipe that got rave reviews from not only my boys, but also my nieces. #noeasyfeat
Friday- Snack plate. Because Fridays dictate easy, and straightforward.
Saturday- Pizza. Not sure if I’ll make it here at home, or order in. But since the Great Condo repair continues, I am going to go with this and depending on what time I get home, we’ll have some kind of pizza.
Sunday- As a Mother’s Day gift to me, I’m hitting the road Sunday afternoon for two nights away. The boys and dad are on their own. I have no idea what any of us will be eating Sunday night. If I’m really smart, I’ll put something in the crockpot for them to eat on Sunday night.
Here’s hoping that the food I stocked up on today will last until I get home on Tuesday evening. Actually, if we’re wishing for things, I’m going to wish that the food lasts for two weeks. That way, I can hold off on another grocery store run until the following Monday.
Tune in next week to find out how that goes.
See you at the rink,
